One can reach the observation tower along the coastal route from the Inner harbour to the Kiikeli bridge (1.2 km). From there on to the tip of Kiikeli (1.2 km), where the observation tower of Kiikeli is. The magnificent, wooden tower was built in the summer of 2017 as part of the EU-funded investment project together with the town of Kemi, Metsä Group and the third sector. The observation tower is located at the very coast of the Bothnian bay. The height is six meters, so one can enjoy a grand view from there around the year.
Unobstructed travel is enabled into the first observation platform which is at the height of three meters. The steps continue into the second observation platform, from which it is possible to observe the surrounding nature and the town of Kemi around the year.
There is a weather station, WiFi and online cameras installed into the tower, all operated with electricity from solar panels. The weather station produces online information into the Internet, this information can be used to observe the weather in the area. Also the online camera produces footage into the Internet around the year making it possible to observe the arctic nature from everywhere in the world.
