Kivikko school consists of two separate school buildings , one in Kivikko and the other in Koivuharju. Koivuharju unit is both smaller and older than the unit in Kivikko and it was called earlier Koivuharju school though the very first name of this seat of learning was Karjalahti primary school. It was founded in 1904.

There are 82 pupils in Koivuharju school unit. The pupils come mainly from the districts of Koivuharju, Ruuti and Mäntylä and they are from first-graders to fourth-graders. In the same building also works a pre-school class of Ruuti nursery school
